Santahthulu......

OK, I was doing this when the winter themed build kicked off - the Santa hat is a tad tenuous but what the hell, cracking model, lots of detail and playing with inks, washes and different textures.

Hail Santahthulu - hat is from a Christmas wine bottle set!

Sans hat - really nice model, stands 180mm to top of head spiky bits.

Spent ages trying to do the monolith with inset green runes in black stone but never got it right - decided to go with weathered obsidian look instead, lots of detail to play with.

Pulp gribblies, fiends and Lovecraftian horrors.

Ok, definitely back in the swing of it now - finishing off stuff that got boxed up for the move. A variety of nasties from the Reaper 'bones' fantasy range that have a definite Lovecraftian influence and some tentacled creatures from the original AD&D.

I used a lot of inks and highlighting from a place undercoat which bring out the detail nicely - the only downside is they do tend to warp a bit on swords, the mummies have a suitable shambling look though from different angles of legs - I tried the hot/cold water but they bend back over time.

Water, death and fire elementals, ink and colour highlights to bring out the texture.

Back to Productivity - Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies

After the move and unpacking a bout of a certain virus took me out for a couple of weeks, not a nice experience but survived, still get brain fog but got the painting setup done now. Pulp Alley models (Foundry Darkest Africa) finished off.

Soviet Horde

Decided with the new room to re-pack a lot of old figures, 6mm Soviet/Warsaw Pact in the queue now, didn't realise how many I had as the boxes were a bit random in the garage at the last house.

Decided to take them off bases as they are showing their age and I get annoyed at green patches under vehicles on roads, now I'm moving to K&R storage they are perfectly safe.

The Soviet tide - 3 boxes at the back stacked on each other are full of BAOR, FRG, French and US Army, USMC to be boxed when the next batch arrive - 288 models or infantry stands per box!

Had these 3D printed off an eBay site in Oz as a special order for CWC - double sided with a good ratio of 1-5 for big games, got 200 in all.

New Games Room

Moved house last week (27th August) and now have the new games room almost set up, need to ditch the big desk and get a slimline corner one is all and move the shelves by the door to the far wall, table is a healthy 8' x 5'4" based on heavy topped paste tables under the cloths.

All set, plenty of terrain under the table as well as on the shelves, now we are allowed to meet up with friends again it's time to get gaming, new place is near Congleton (5 mins) if there are local gamers to catch up with.

Supply Areonefs

Yet more Brigade goodies - supply, repair and fuel tenders for the torpedo strike force. Went for a drab, kind of grubby look on these.

Aeronef attack squadron

Ok, so now it's time for the new Brigade Models kit I picked up when painting the older stuff, really nice castings that lend themselves to a lot of wash and dry-brush after a 3 stage primer build up to give depth. Went for more of a Steampunk/VSF look on these. Attack squadron of torpedo nefs for the first tranche, heavier ships to follow although the next batch on the bench are the tenders and supply/repair vessels for this little lot.

Lots of damage potential if this lot get close up but not much endurance so need to get the support flotilla done next.

Attack squadron.

Detail on Nefs - destroyer and 3 attack frigates.

More Delinquent Panzerschiffe Guppies

Ok, heavies completed now and I can't shake off the fish tank comment from the memsahib, oh well. Used a Tamiya primer for these and it has blurred some of the deck lines so back to Army Painter for the next fleet (inevitably I bought a bunch of new Brigade stuff to add on to these - had to be done really!).

Fleet heavies.

Light Cruisers.

Armoured cruisers and destroyers.

Battlecruisers type 1.

Battleship and battlecruiser type 2.

Whole  heavy fleet again.

Whole fleet with lighter units as well.
